Nestled in Indonesian West Papua, southeast of Raja Ampat, Triton Bay is rapidly gaining recognition as a world-class liveaboard destination in its own right. While it shares Raja Ampat's spectacular underwater treasures - superb soft coral gardens, swirling schools of fish, wobbegongs, and epaulette sharks - Triton Bay boasts its own unique wonders, most notably its breathtaking underwater forests of black coral that create an otherworldly diving experience.
This biodiverse hotspot continues to reveal new marine species as exploration continues, offering encounters with everything from tiny, exotic critters to majestic pelagics. Liveaboard divers in Triton Bay might spot pilot whales gliding through the depths or whale sharks feeding near traditional fishing platforms ('bagans'), where they gather to feast on discards. Macro enthusiasts will find endless fascination in the area's peculiar and rare creatures, making every dive a treasure hunt.
Above water, Triton Bay's dramatic landscapes captivate liveaboard divers just as profoundly. Towering limestone cliffs draped in emerald greenery plunge into the sea, while freshwater waterfalls cascade directly into the ocean. Quaint fishing villages dot the coastline, where welcoming locals preserve ancient traditions and can guide visitors to prehistoric cave paintings - a testament to humanity's enduring connection to this remote, unspoiled paradise. If you are interested in diving here by liveaboard, then you are most likely to join a Raja Ampat National Park & Triton Bay trip. These cruises tend to be for around 11 nights in duration and take in a wide range of Raja Ampat dive regions such as the Dampier Strait, Waigeo, Jef Fam Group and Misool. By adding Triton Bay to the route plan, you can also experience dive sites like Larry’s Heaven, Disney Land and DT Rock. In addition you can experience a river cruise and witness ancient cave paintings by opting for a liveaboard safari that includes Triton Bay.
Occasionally trips arise which include Triton Bay and the Banda Sea. See our dedicated Transit Trips section for more details.

Triton Bay liveaboards schedule their cruises during the regular Raja Ampat diving season, i.e. October to April. Outside that period the rain and winds can adversely affect sea conditions.
West Papua has 2 wet seasons: November/December and July/August. Rain is a common feature in West Papua at any time of the year. Water temperatures usually hover between 27°C (May to October) to 30°C (November to April).
Triton Bay liveaboards use the port of Kaimana in the south of West Papua, which you can fly to from Ujung Pandang (via Ambon), or from Sorong. Such cruises will either begin or end in Sorong in West Papua. You can fly to Sorong direct from Bali, Jakarta, or via Ujung Pandang or Manado.
Check each boat's 'Departure Schedule & Prices' section for port details. We'll email full departure instructions after booking (transfers from airports/hotels are usually included). Most guests arrive via Jakarta, Manado or Denpasar (see our Indonesia travel info). We strongly recommend comprehensive dive travel insurance covering cancellations::

Website is great. Pip was great! Our original boat canceled our trip and Pip was able to find a replacement boat and saved our trip. So we were able to use our airline tickets and did not need to change our travel dates. Booking and payment was easy.
