Nestled on the verdant shores of Beqa Island, just a short boat transfer to the south from Pacific Harbour, Beqa Lagoon Resort stands as a dedicated haven for scuba divers in Fiji. Its consistent recognition, including prestigious awards from industry publications, is built upon a singular focus: delivering a seamless and exceptional dive-centric experience. The resort provides efficient logistics, dedicated facilities, and a team that understands the priorities of a serious diving holiday. This commitment has cemented its reputation as the premier base for exploring the legendary sites of Beqa Lagoon.
Beqa Lagoon Resort is designed for comfort and immersion in the Fiji marine environment. Spacious, traditionally styled bures are nestled among lush tropical gardens or positioned directly along the beachfront, many featuring private plunge pools and uninterrupted ocean views. The atmosphere is one of relaxed, understated luxury, centred around a large seaside swimming pool and expansive lawns that lead to the lagoon. This setting provides the perfect space for post-dive relaxation and socialising with fellow divers, all within the serene soundtrack of the South Pacific.
Diving operations at Beqa Lagoon Resort are purpose-built for efficiency and access. The resort’s private dive boats depart directly from the beach, ensuring a quick and easy transition from breakfast to the first dive site. The schedule is structured yet flexible, typically offering a 2-tank morning trip with the option for a third afternoon dive, complemented by unlimited shore diving. The professional dive team provides detailed briefings and expert guidance, prioritising safety and respect for the marine environment. Their extensive local knowledge is key to unlocking the diversity of Beqa Lagoon’s reefs, walls, and famous soft coral gardens.
A defining element of the scuba diving here is the opportunity to observe sharks in their natural environment. The resort facilitates responsible excursions to the Cathedral, a protected area renowned for its structured shark encounters. This is a professionally managed activity where divers can witness multiple species, including bull and tiger sharks, from a designated observation area. It is presented as a unique ecological experience focusing on observation and education, rather than a staged spectacle.
Beyond diving, Beqa Lagoon Resort fosters a genuine connection to Fijian culture. A thoughtful weekly events programme may include visits from the local school choir, traditional Meke performances, and demonstrations of the ancient, sacred art of firewalking for which Beqa is famous. Culinary offerings further enhance the stay, with a focus on fresh, locally sourced ingredients presented in varied and inventive menus. This combination ensures that non-diving hours are as enriching as time spent beneath the waves.
For the diver seeking a comprehensive Fijian experience that prioritises world-class diving with robust cultural immersion, Beqa Lagoon Resort presents a compelling choice. It successfully combines direct access to iconic dive sites, including responsible shark encounters, with the comforts of a well-appointed resort and the authentic warmth of Fijian hospitality, all without the need for additional domestic flights. It is a destination where the dive itinerary and the island experience are thoughtfully integrated.
The Deluxe Beachfront, Oceanview and Honeymoon bures all have unrestricted sea views over Beqa Lagoon from their private courtyard which also feature a private plunge-pool, sundeck and hammock. Garden bures are set inland and the Koi Lagoon bures are built around a koi fish pond. There is a large house which contains 4 Two-bedroom Suites (these latter accommodations have an additional lounge, a king-size bed and 2 double beds, verandah and ocean views).
All the bures at Beqa Lagoon Resort have:

Most guests make 2 dives per day in the lagoon or around the island of Beqa, although 3 is possible, and there is unlimited shore diving. Dive sites are just a few minutes away. At additional cost, and provided there are sufficient passengers, you can dive the Cathedral, Beqa Island’s own base for shark diving, which is only a 15 minute boat ride from the resort.
The boat leaves at 8 am with all the gear already loaded for a 2-tank dive trip. Grab your wetsuit, camera and dry bag, and you're good to go. After a shore surface interval and the second dive, the boat returns around 1.30 pm, where lunch awaits you.
Beqa Lagoon Resort operates 3 dive boats. The boats are 14-18 metres in length and can accommodate 15-20 scuba divers; the larger boats have twin engines. 1 divemaster is provided for every 7 divers. The boats feature a dive deck, kit up area, ladders, rinse tanks, sundeck, oxygen and first aid kit. Water, juice and biscuits are available on board.
The dive centre has guest scuba equipment storage stations, rinse tanks, camera safe area, shower, and oxygen.
The nearest re-compression chamber is in Suva on Viti Levu. Depending on the emergency severity, the journey will take between 2 and 3 hours. We recommend you take out your own scuba diving insurance.
For general accidents there is an international hospital in Suva too.
Beqa Lagoon Resort is designed to offer a complete Fijian retreat, where time spent above water is as enriching as the diving below. The resort’s ethos centres on authentic cultural immersion and relaxed comfort, allowing guests to fully engage with the pace and traditions of island life. A cornerstone of the experience is the weekly events programme. This is not mere entertainment, but a genuine invitation to connect. "
The Beqa Lagoon Resort shark dives were the most exhilarating dives that I've ever done. The dive team were so skilled at redirecting the sharks that I always felt safe, even when a tiger's pectoral fin clipped my shoulder I knew the dive boys had me covered!
I found the Dive The World online chat really useful. All my questions were immediately answered. Any emails that I sent were always promptly responded to." -

"
At the resort the services, staff, food, diving, were fantastic. They even provided a cake for us on our wedding anniversary. The shark dive was amazing and we felt safe and well looked after the whole time. We'd definitely recommend them." -

"
They have wonderful staff and dive sites. The DMs are knowledgeable, friendly and capable but their gear is in sad shape. The staff is what makes this resort incredible. It is a beautiful location with access to world class dive sites. The bures are in need of maintenance but comfortable, big and well furnished. The beachfront burrs have nice plunge pools and big decks overlooking the beach- great for relaxing. We had heard the food was first class and were not at all disappointed by any of the meals. It is amazing the 5 star meals that appear from the kitchen. We took full advantage of the spa treatments and had some of the best massages ever! Everyone at the Beqa Resort works very hard to insure you enjoy your stay." -
