For scuba divers seeking an active and immersive Fiji adventure beyond a standard resort holiday, Waidroka Bay Resort presents a compelling proposition. This family-operated, boutique property, accommodating a maximum of 24 guests, has earned a reputation as a premier dive and surf basecamp. It successfully marries direct, expert-led access to world-class underwater sites, including the famed shark dives of Beqa Lagoon, with a genuine, unfussy, and adventurous atmosphere.
Strategically located on Viti Levu's lush southern coast, Waidroka offers a distinct logistical advantage. The approximately 2-hour transfer from Nadi International Airport avoids the need for additional domestic flights or lengthy boat rides. More importantly, its position provides swift boat access to two of Fiji's most celebrated marine playgrounds: the soft coral-rich reefs of Beqa Lagoon and the pelagic-rich waters of Pacific Harbour's Shark Reef. This makes it an exceptionally efficient base for dedicated scuba divers.
The diving operation at Waidroka Bay Resort is managed by passionate professionals who understand the priorities of experienced divers. The resort's fleet of dedicated dive boats allows for flexible scheduling and access to a wide variety of sites. The program is rightly renowned for its professionally conducted shark dives at the Bistro, a structured and awe-inspiring encounter with multiple species. Beyond sharks, guides lead explorations of Beqa's vibrant walls, coral gardens, and the thrilling drifts at sites like Frigates Passage, catering to a range of interests and skill levels.
True to its identity as an adventure centre, Waidroka excels in offering world-class surfing alongside its diving. It is the closest resort to the legendary left-hand reef break of Frigates Pass, with boat trips tailored to surf conditions. This unique combination attracts a diverse community of ocean enthusiasts. For days out of the water or for non-diving companions, Waidroka Bay Resort facilitates a host of Fiji's best land-based adventures, including white-water rafting on the Upper Navua River, zip-lining through rainforest canopies, and authentic cultural village visits.
Following a complete renovation, the accommodation at Waidroka is comfortable, clean, and focused on the ocean views. Ranging from garden rooms to spacious ocean front bures, the focus is on functionality and connection to the environment rather than opulent luxury. The true luxury here is the authentic, personal Fijian hospitality. The family-like staff, many of whom have been with Waidroka Bay Resort for years, are renowned for their warm, attentive service. Communal dining reinforces this welcoming, social atmosphere, where stories of the day's dives and surf sessions are shared over fresh, fulfilling meals.
Waidroka Bay Resort is ideally suited for the active, socially-minded traveller who prioritises direct access to exceptional diving and surfing over resort-style pampering. It appeals to divers, surfers, adventure couples, and small groups looking for an unpretentious, professionally-run hub from which to explore the best of Fiji's southern coast. It delivers an affordable, no-frills adventure where the focus is firmly on the world-class experiences just beyond its shoreline, all delivered with the genuine warmth of Fijian family hospitality.

Diving from Waidroka means you have access to a wide variety of scuba diving in Fiji with a range of sites just 10-45 minutes away. The resort has a fully-equipped PADI centre offering 1, 2 or 3 dive day trips. Waidroka Bay Resort aims to give you a personal scuba experience within a small group.
The resort owns a fleet of 4 well-maintained boats for various excursions to many world famous sites including: Beqa Lagoon, Frigate's Walls, the Coral Coast, Cakau (deep-water pinnacle), and of course the well-known shark dive. They also offer exploration diving to many undiscovered sites.
* The Fiji Explorer, just newly refurbished, is their number one group-dive boat. A 10m twin hull with twin 225 HP outboards, she comfortably accommodates 14 divers and crew for 2 and 3 tank trips. It is used to dive the beautiful soft coral bommies of Beqa Lagoon, Frigate's, Cakau Lekaleka and Yanuca Island. Journey time is 25-40 minutes.
* The Wavehunter is an 9m long rigid mono-hull with a 90 HP 4-stroke engine. She is a great boat with nice low sides for backward roll entries. For sites closer to home and training dives, Waidroka use the ever dependable Yammy. In addition, the Waverider is a 10m aluminum 200 HP 2-stroke V-hull, which is a great dive boat for exploration and excursions.
The diving day begins early in the morning, departing the resort at 7:30 am, with the first dive around 8 am and the last one around 3 pm. All trips include divemasters (1 guide for every 6 scuba divers), tanks, weights, towels and refreshments (cakes and juice).
The Waidroka Bay Resort dive centre is equipped with lockable drawers for divers, rinse tanks and showers. All equipment is carried and washed daily by the resort staff.
Diver safety: The nearest re-compression chamber is in Suva, 50 km from Waidroka to the east by road. We recommend you have and bring your own dive insurance.
The dive boats and PADI centre each have a first aid kit, oxygen, and a cellphone. 4,000 litres of additional emergency oxygen is available back at the resort's dive centre.
For general medical emergencies there is a local hospital 20 km from Waidroka, and an international hospital 60 km away. Emergency evacuation procedures are in place.
Waidroka Bay Resort functions less as a conventional resort and more as a comfortable, well-equipped basecamp for ocean adventure. Nestled within 10 acres of lush tropical gardens on Viti Levu's south coast, the property is designed for relaxation and socialising between dives and surf sessions. The overall atmosphere is casual, active, and communal, centred around a freshwater swimming pool and a private beachfront that looks out over the Pacific.

"
Low guest to staff ratio and exceptionally friendly service. Great hard and soft coral are in excellent condition, resort staff and food perfect. Simple but comfortable accommodations. Nice variety of guests when younger surfing guests included.
All details arranged and correct by Dive The World except that they do now offer nitrox. No complaints!
