Triton Bay is a region of Indonesian West Papua which lies south-east of Raja Ampat but is becoming known as a liveaboard destination in its own right. While it shares some of Raja Ampat's best features such as exceptional soft coral growth, it also has some unique features, not least the vast forest-like swathes of black coral.
Many new species are being identified in Triton Bay as the area is further explored, and the diving allows you to satisfy your need for larger creatures, even as large as pilot whales. For macro lovers, there are also plenty of sites where weird and wonderful critters abound.
The topside scenery is also worthy of mention, with sheer cliffs and lush green hillsides all along the coastlines. Small fishing villages dot the coastline with friendly locals who can point to ancient cave paintings by their ancestors as their ties to this remote and beautiful land. [More details on these dive sites: Triton Bay].
If you are interested in diving here by liveaboard, then you are most likely to join a Raja Ampat National Park & Triton Bay trip. These cruises tend to be for around 11 nights in duration and take in a wide range of Raja Ampat dive regions such as the Dampier Strait, Waigeo, Jef Fam Group and Misool. By adding Triton Bay to the route plan, you can also experience dive sites like Larry’s Heaven, Disney Land and DT Rock. In addition you can experience a river cruise and witness ancient cave paintings by opting for a liveaboard safari that includes Triton Bay.
Occasionally trips arise which include Triton Bay and the Banda Sea. See our dedicated Transit Trips section for more details.

Triton Bay liveaboards schedule their cruises during the regular Raja Ampat diving season, i.e. October to April. Outside that period the rain and winds can adversely affect sea conditions.
West Papua has 2 wet seasons: November/December and July/August. Rain is a common feature in West Papua at any time of the year. Water temperatures usually hover between 27°C (May to October) to 30°C (November to April).
Triton Bay liveaboards use the port of Kaimana in the south of West Papua, which you can fly to from Ujung Pandang (via Ambon), or from Sorong. Such cruises will either begin or end in Sorong in West Papua. You can fly to Sorong direct from Bali, Jakarta, or via Ujung Pandang or Manado.
You can view which ports the various boats use on their trips in the 'Departures & Prices' section of each boat's webpage. We will send you full departure details during the booking process. Whichever ports your boat uses, normally the boat operator provides a transfer to the boat from the local airport or hotels (if you overnight beforehand).
Most people fly into Indonesia to Jakarta (Java), Manado (Sulawesi) or Denpasar (Bali). More information on: how to get to Indonesia.

CUSTOMER TESTIMONIALS OF DIVE THE WORLD
... Website is great. Pip was great! Our original boat canceled our trip and Pip was able to find a replacement boat and saved our trip. So we were able to use our airline tickets and did not need to change our travel dates. Booking and payment was easy. ... -- Dennis Heubner, USA. [More customer reviews]
