MV Emperor Atoll is a 26m wooden mono-hulled Maldives liveaboard which operates a variety of dive charters around the central and northern atolls of the Maldives. Up to 12 divers are accommodated on board this relatively small liveaboard boat, with 8 crew members providing an intimate and personal experience.

Guests relax in the air-conditioned saloon with comfortable seating areas, TV and DVD/music system. Wi-Fi is available when the signal range permits. There are plenty of charging points around the boat particularly in the saloon. There is an open air dining area and the saloon can double as a dining area in inclement weather. Sun lovers can enjoy the partially shaded sundeck with sun loungers.

The accompanying dive dhoni is where the scuba equipment is stored, post-dive showers can be taken and tanks are filled, keeping the noise down on the mothership. MV Emperor Atoll is rebreather-friendly and provides nitrox free of charge, which is unusual for Maldives liveaboards in the same price bracket. Although not a luxury option, M/V Emperor Atoll is a stable single-deck liveaboard, ideal for people who want a comfortable and friendly Maldives diving experience without breaking the bank.

There are 'no hidden extras' with Emperor liveaboard cruises. They have a policy of transparent pricing which includes extras such as fuel surcharges, local/tourist taxes, marine park fees, green/environment fees, airport transfers.

Dive experience: Recommended (not mandatory): Maldives Central Atolls, Maldives Northern Atolls & North Male and Ari Atoll trips: participants should be Advanced Open Water Diver qualified. Maldives Central & Southern Atoll trips: divers should be Advanced Open Water Diver and have 30 logged dives. Maldives Southern Atolls: Advanced Open Water Diver and 100 logged dives. Divers with less experience will be able to join trips but may have to sit out some dives if dive certifications and or experience are not sufficient for the planned dives.

Cruise price per person includes: Cabin accommodation with air-conditioning, breakfast, lunch, dinner (1 BBQ on deserted island weather permitting), snacks, drinking water, hot drinks, glass of wine with dinner, transfers to the boat from the airport, Green tax, dives, experienced English speaking divemasters (6 divers per guide), tanks, weights and weight belts, nitrox fills for enriched air certified divers, 16% GST on cruise price.

Cruise price per person excludes (mandatory, unless customer provides own): Scuba equipment (full set including surface marker device and dive computer US$ 336 per week, must be pre-booked), dive insurance. Unless otherwise stated, all the listed items need to be paid on arrival, with equipment ordered in advance (cash or credit card).

Optional extras: Soft drinks, alcoholic drinks, 15 litre tanks (US$ 101 per week), torch (US$ 101 per week).. Unless otherwise stated, all the listed items need to be paid on arrival.

How to get there: MV Emperor Atoll normally departs from Male. Your flight can arrive in Male at any time on the first day. For more details, including airlines, see our How to get to the Maldives section. There are 2 complimentary transfer timings from the airport to the boat on embarkation day; 12 noon and 4 pm. All transfers are made by a representative wearing an Emperor Maldives T-shirt and holding an Emperor Maldives sign. The meeting point at Male (Velana) International Airport is beside the Help Desk, or outside the arrivals hall at Addu City (Gan) International Airport.
Guests taking the 12 noon transfer from the airport to the boat have to accept that the boat will not be fully cleaned. Any other transfers required on embarkation day other than the 2 stated above, can be arranged at a charge of approx. US$ 15 per way. Group or full charter bookings with a minimum of 8 guests arriving on the same flight will not be charged if an alternative transfer is required on embarking day (after 11 am).
The first and last nights of the cruise are spent in the harbour. The last dive of the trip will be at around 1 pm on the second last day of the trip. Disembarkation is scheduled for 8 am. Please wait at least 18 hours before flying after diving.

Non-diver rate: Non-divers receive a free snorkelling kit and a US$ 50 voucher to spend on board.

Single supplement (if you do not want to share accommodation): This is optional - single travellers may choose to share a cabin or pay a supplement of 50% of the published price. If there is no other same sex guest for you to share with, you will receive a cabin to yourself with no single supplement.

Dive clubs and group discounts: Pay for 7 guests and 1 extra person can join free of charge (total 8 guests).

Whole boat charter rate (per night): Pay for 11 guests and 1 extra person can join free of charge (total 12 guests).

The MV Emperor Atoll has 6 Twin/double bed cabins on the main (and only) deck. All cabins feature a lower double bed and an upper single bed and have en-suite bathrooms.

All the diving in the Maldives onboard the MV Emperor Atoll is done from an accompanying 15m long dhoni. This dive boat carries all the guest's scuba equipment, the compressors and tanks. There is a fresh water shower on board, rinse tanks and a camera table. The dhoni also carries the emergency breathing oxygen.

Menu, Cuisine Type...

Dining onboard Emperor Atoll is buffet-style and guests can dine in the saloon or the open-air dining area. You can expect breakfast, lunch and dinner to be served alongside some snack treats. The chef varies the menu which includes chicken, fresh vegetables, curries, pasta and salads and includes both local and international dishes. We recommend you give advance notice of any dietary requirements.

Main meals are served buffet-style in the air-conditioned saloon/dining area and comprise breakfast, lunch and dinner, with snacks in between.
