The main reef stretches over 34 square kilometers and surrounds a shallow lagoon, offering a range of dives suited to all experience levels.
Descend along colorful walls covered with hard and soft corals, where whitetip and grey reef sharks patrol the blue, and schools of snapper, barracuda, and trevally move in shimmering formations. The outer walls often attract manta rays, eagle rays, and occasional sharks, while the reef flats host turtles, bumphead parrotfish, and giant sweetlips. In calm conditions, divers can also explore Apo Menor, with its caverns and swim-throughs, or the North Wall, known for strong currents and thrilling drift dives.
Surface intervals with the liveaboard reveal more of Apo Reef’s beauty. The turquoise lagoon and small sandy island are home to seabirds and mangroves, making it a perfect backdrop for relaxation or snorkeling between dives.
Further north, Coron is famous for its historic World War 2 shipwrecks. The Okikawa Maru, Olympia Maru, and Irako are covered in coral and teeming with marine life. The East Tangat Gunboat sits in shallow water, ideal for relaxed exploration and photography.
