Komodo National Park, Flores & Alor

Trip highlights: shark action, dolphins, manta rays, dugongs/manatees, turtles, great macro life/ marine diversity, schooling fish & big pelagics, non diving activities

Diving environment: advanced divers, beginner divers, drift diving, healthy reefs, off the beaten track, very popular, wall diving

Dive sites and activities: from Komodo: Gili Lawa Laut, Wainilu, Batu Bolong, Tatawa; Sebayur Kecil, Flores: Palue, Maumere Bay, Pulau Besar, Dambilah and Pangabatang, Palau Babi, Wairterang Wreck, Tanjung Gedong, Serbete and Adonara; Alor: Pantar Strait, Lembata

Day 1
Embarkation at Labuan Bajo harbour. The crew helps you settle aboard the Seaisee liveaboard. A full briefing from the cruise director covers boat facilities, staff and fellow guests. The afternoon is for unpacking dive gear and relaxing. If everyone arrives early enough, a check dive happens before sunset. Dinner on deck as the boat prepares to head east.

Core Days
Komodo sets the pace with current-swept channels and hard coral gardens that rank among Indonesia's best. Gili Lawa Laut delivers the famous 'rollercoaster' drift. You drop in, let the water move you, and watch reef sharks, giant trevally, and schools of surgeonfish shoot past. Batu Bolong stands as a coral pinnacle rising from deep water. The top sits at 5m. The sides drop beyond recreational limits. Soft corals cover every inch. Current determines whether you get the full experience. If it cooperates, you stay for the whole dive. If not, you still leave smiling.
Tatawa offers a gentler drift where turtles are common. So are bumphead parrotfish. The southern side of the channel holds cleaner stations where manta rays visit. Stay shallow. Watch the blue. They appear when you least expect them. Wainilu flips the script. Muck diving at its best. Frogfish, ghost pipefish, blue-ringed octopus, rhinopias, and nudibranchs in colours you won't see anywhere else. This site rewards slow divers who hover and stare. Sebayur Kecil adds a shallow reef perfect for a third dive or a night excursion.
Flores stretches the trip eastward. Palue offers volcanic black sand slopes. The muck diving here rivals Wainilu. Hairy frogfish and Halimeda ghost pipefish hide in the rubble. Maumere Bay suffered damage decades ago but has rebounded. Coral growth now supports schools of fusiliers, snapper, and the occasional bamboo shark. Pulau Besar delivers a classic wall dive. Hard corals terrace down to sandy flats. Whitetip reef sharks rest in the shallows.
The Seaisee then moves towards Dambilah and Pangabatang. Twin sites with very different personalities. Dambilah runs current-rich. Pelagics pass through. Pangabatang sits sheltered. Macro life dominates. Pulau Babi holds a small wreck colonised by batfish and glassfish. The Wairterang Wreck sits deeper. Experienced divers can penetrate if conditions allow. Everyone else explores the exterior, covered in colourful tunicates and soft corals.
Tanjung Gedong offers a sloping reef famous for schooling fish. Barracuda, snapper, and fusiliers form moving walls. Serbete and Adonara mark the transition into Alor waters. Currents pick up again. Dogtooth tuna patrol the drop-offs. Pygmy seahorses hide in the fans. Alor closes the trip with some of Indonesia's most underrated diving. Pantar Strait channels nutrient-rich water between volcanic islands. Reef sharks on almost every dive. Schools of bumphead parrotfish that block out the sun. Lembata offers muck diving with a difference: volcanic sand, clear water, and critters including wonderpus octopus, tiger shrimp, and multiple species of pygmy seahorse.
Only 2 dives happen on the last full day. Seaisee spends the afternoon cruising toward Alor.

Final Day
Coffee and croissants on board one last time. Then a transfer to Alor airport or a local hotel.
This cruise sometimes runs in reverse or uses different ports. Check exact details before booking. The diving stays the same. So does the memory of currents, coral, and critters across 3 of Indonesia's best regions.

Prepare for an extraordinary scuba adventure featuring some of Indonesia's most spectacular marine encounters. Maratua's walls thrill divers with massive schools of chevron barracuda, hunting trevallies, and thresher sharks, while Kakaban Island stuns with its unique stingless jellyfish lake, alongside steep drop-offs patrolled by hammerheads and reef sharks. Sangalaki’s vibrant reefs host huge numbers of manta rays and occasional whale shark sightings, while Derawan - Indonesia’s largest turtle nesting site - lets you witness endangered green and hawksbill turtles nesting or swimming amid the biodiverse coral reefs. Don’t miss Kalimantan’s whale sharks, drawn to traditional fishing platforms for anchovy feasts, offering rare close encounters.

At Bunaken Island, the stunning coral walls plunging 1,000+ metres, covered in sponges, gorgonians, and hard/soft corals. Divers will encounter sea turtles, reef sharks, and eagle rays, as well as schools of pyramid butterflyfish, barracuda, trevallies, snappers, batfish. Trip highlights: whale sharks, manta rays, turtles, great macro life/ marine diversity

Diving environment: advanced divers, beginner divers, drift diving, off the beaten track

Dive sites and activities: Maratua, Kakaban, Sangalaki, Derawan, Whale Shark Point

Day 1
Upon arrival at the port in Tarakan, the friendly crew will greet you and assist you in settling into your new home aboard the magnificent Seaisee liveaboard. The cruise director will conduct a boat briefing, covering essential safety procedures, onboard facilities, and introductions to the crew and fellow guests.

To kick off your journey, delicious snacks and dinner will be served on this first evening, ensuring a perfect start to your dive-filled getaway.

Core Days
One of the most thrilling dive spots in the region, Maratua’s walls deliver exhilarating big fish encounters. Expect massive schools of chevron barracuda, hunting trevallies, thresher sharks, and more.
A natural wonder, Kakaban Island features a breathtaking jellyfish lake and is surrounded by mangrove forests and steep drop-offs. Its walls attract huge schools of trevally and barracuda, along with occasional hammerheads, grey reef and blacktip reef sharks. But the real uniqueness lies in its famous stingless jellyfish - one of only 3 places on Earth where you can safely swim (and even gently touch) these mesmerising creatures without fear of stings!
Renowned for its reef manta ray gatherings, Sangalaki’s vibrant reefs serve as cleaning and breeding stations for these graceful giants. If conditions align, lucky divers may even encounter whale sharks gliding through the blue too.
Indonesia’s largest nesting site for endangered green and hawksbill turtles, Derawan offers unforgettable encounters - whether it's watching turtles laying their eggs on the beach, or swimming alongside them in the local waters. The biodiversity here is staggering: 460 coral species (second only to Raja Ampat) and 870+ fish species, from tiny pygmy seahorses to giant manta rays.
In recent years, divers have discovered a remarkable phenomenon off Kalimantan’s coast: whale sharks gathering near traditional fishing platforms (bagans). Locally called Labetti or Si Bintik ('the spotted one'), these gentle giants are seen as harbingers of good fortune by fishermen. The sharks feed on anchovies escaping the nets, offering divers a rare chance to observe them up close.
Note: On the final full day, only two dives will be conducted before the yacht begins its return journey to port.

Day 7
Final opportunity to enjoy croissants and hot drinks before you disembark in Tarakan and transfer to the airport or a local hotel.
