MV Blue Spirit is an intimate Maldives liveaboard taking a maximum of only 12 divers around some of the finest dive sites the island chain has to offer. Unlike some others that focus one area, Blue Spirit’s liveaboard safaris take in various locations: central, northern, southern and far south atolls. Choose from week-long central cruises to 20 night expeditions that cover them all.

This 26m wooden-hulled vessel has a large air-conditioned saloon and dining area on the main deck. This is where most of the indoor socializing takes place with an audio-visual entertainment system, and a library of book and magazines to browse through. Dining may take place here or, alternatively, in the shaded outdoor area at the bow of the main deck.

Blue Spirit is a small-but-perfectly formed Maldives liveaboard with accommodation for up to 12 guests in a range of double/twin bed cabins all on the lower deck. All cabins are air-conditioned and feature ensuite bathrooms. The sundeck is the place to unwind in the open air, either working on your tan or relaxing in the shade. Here you can drink in the ever-changing scenery of turquoise lagoons and tiny tropical islands.

Diving is conducted from the accompanying dive dhoni where tanks remain in place for refilling. Photographers will appreciate the separate camera rinse tanks plus the many charging points in the saloon. Unusually for the Maldives, this liveaboard is rebreather friendly! M/V Blue Spirit is a great option for groups to charter and for those who like a more intimate experience and plenty of personal attention from the crew and cruise leader.

The Cruise Director together with the Captain will plan the diving itinerary according to the weather and currents. Due to the strong currents, certain dive sites on this trip are not suitable for novice divers.

Day 2-12
The picturesque Maldive atolls form the back drop of your liveaboard safari, however below the warm waves in the crystal waters the stars of your diving cruise are found. The southern sites are known for their currents and encounters with manta rays, whale sharks, sharks and a variety of pelagic sightings. Laamu Atoll’s Fushi Kandu is one of the most popular channel dives. It's an impressive 250m long, relatively shallow dive. The channel is frequently visited by white tip reef sharks, schools of jacks and tuna.
Mulaku Kandu (Meemu Atoll) is peppered with submerged pinnacles, covered with soft corals in the northeast. At the western section of the site you may encounter schools of snappers, turtles or possibly Napoleon wrasse nibbling on corals. Schools of eagle rays and an occasional sailfish or hammerheads could swim past during drift dives.
The diving day normally follows this typical schedule: 06:30 Tea, coffee and biscuits. 07:00 dive 1 followed by full breakfast. 11:00 dive 2 followed by lunch. 15:00 dive 3 followed by homemade cakes and snacks. 19:30 dinner. On certain days a 4th dive will be scheduled before dinner, generally 2 or 3 night dives are included in this cruise.
The menu is a mix of International and local cuisine (Maldivian and Sri Lankan). All meals served buffet style so you can mix and match the options to your taste. There is also a selection of treats like biscuits and chocolates available for nibbling on each day. A huge bunch of bananas are available all day long, normally hanging somewhere near the stern of the boat. A range of black green and herbal teas and drinking water are commonly available as well as instant coffee. You can also drink from the cocktail bar where soft drinks juices, beer, wine or spirits are all available for purchase.

Day 13
A light breakfast is served on the last day of your cruise. Disembarkation is normally between 08:30 and 10:00 hrs when you will be transferred to the Male International Airport. Alternatively, if your flight is much later, you can go to Hulhule Hotel where you can relax at the pool, take a shower and enjoy a pre-flight meal and your last few hours in the Maldives. Note, this trip sometimes runs in reverse so please confirm the ports of departure and return.
