Whale Shark Diving in the Maldives MPAs

Nothing quite beats meeting a whale shark on your dive. The authorities in the Maldives have realised how fragile the future of these mesmerising creatures are. 3 Marine Park Areas ‘MPAs’ have been declared which aim to protect whale sharks and their habitat.

We decided to research the effectiveness of these sanctuaries and see how viable they appear. Read our article to see what we discovered:

A number of well thought out guidelines are being imposed: fishing and boating are now restricted and diving activities are subject to strict controls. Save our Seas has donated a patrol boat to monitor the Baa Atoll reserve.
